ANGEL & THE BADMAN II - THE BOAT Angel & The Badman II was built by John Cavileer in New Jersey at the Jersey Cape Boatyard. The boat was completed in 2004 with a hull designed by Donald Blount and Associates. It is a 48-foot model with a shoal draft of 3’6”. Anyone familiar with how a Blount hull rides and performs will appreciate her lines. She cruises at over 30 knots and tops out at 35 knots – but with fuel economy at 80 gph at cruise you began to appreciate how economical she is. Most new boats her length burn twice as much fuel to reach that speed. She is a very large 48; in fact she is the largest 48 in sport fish designs. With a displacement of 56,000 lbs. she begins to really show her prowess and agility in bigger seas.
John Cavileer’s great grandfather was said to be such a great boat builder that even George Washington had him personally build him a boat to cross the Delaware River during the Revolutionary War. It is no wonder that this boat is so special to this team, and with a nice new mini re-fit, she is ready to go and chase big game for the year.

Angel & The Badman II has a full compliment of Furuno electronics including a CH300 sonar, Navnet 1 and 2 with full 3D capability, 25kw radar, and five different bottom frequencies. There is not much that can escape from being seen or heard from this boat. She has new S&S propellers and runs a 600lbs per day Eskimo ice machine in the kill box. She has a new 160 gallon Offshore Marine products custom bait tank in the transom with 8 custom gunwale mounted tuna tubes. We carry a full compliment of Scopinich chairs, and she has full trolling gear packages from 30lb-80lb. with custom Calstar rods wrapped for the boat. We utilize Cannon tournament series downriggers, and Rupp riggers frame in the cockpit. The boat has a Pipewelders custom half tower and Sirius radio including Sirius weather. We use 700’ of anchor rope to have the capabilities to drop it on almost any pinnacle. On the bow we use another offshore tank for casting baits at surface stripers or boiling tuna, and to get to the tank the team can slide from the flybridge and be at the casters faster than almost any team out there. This boat is truly set up to go and hook anything that gets in sight.
VIDEO
Here's a short video that shows off our custom tournament sportfisher, Angel & The Badman II. We shot the video in the latter part of 2009 prior to taking her from Cabo San Lucas to the Shelter Island Boatyard for some major retrofits and more customization.
While we shot most of the video used in this clip with our own Sony HD video camera, the editing and some of the video used came from our good friends and web designers, Richard Chudy and Dolores "Dee" Peralta of CabosBest.com. During the 2008 tournament season they filmed aboard Angel & The Badman II with their full arsenal of photo and video gear. We're looking forward to having them back on the boat for some serious filming and photography in 2010. If all goes as planned, we look forward to creating more sport fishing videos, including underwater footage, during the 2010 season in Baja Sur, Mexico. Richard and Dee
have filmed, edited and produced TV fishing programs and tournament videos – we recommend them should you ever need video or photography services for your sport fishing adventures.
