PELAGIC OFFSHORE GEAR
I met Ron the owner of Pelagic quite some time ago and the products that I kept seeing just blew me away.  I really was impressed with all the big game major that this company possessed, and we just wanted to be part of it.  Ron is a talented businessman with a USC business school pedigree that makes it easy to see that this company is the future of offshore clothing. Besides that, the logos look pretty sick on the boat.

DEEPSEA POWER AND LIGHTS
DeepSea is a local company in San Diego which made it perfect for me as a yacht captain.  I have had a relationship with DeepSea for a few years now and I am lucky because they are hands down the best hull light manufacturer in the world.  In fact, the rest of the companies are just trying to keep up. DeepSea are the only lights I will ever place into any boat in the future… they are just that good!

MAUI JIM SUNGLASSES
I first put on a pair of Maui Jims in the 90’s and ended up purchasing that same pair.
I have never worn another brand since; and with the value that I place on my eyes when fishing for big game, I would never trust another pair of sunglasses, period. The UV protection and feel of the glasses reflects the quality I've come to expect from Maui Jim.... and they don't disappoint.

DANA LANDING AND MARKET
Dana Landing has supplied us with all of our tournament rods and reels, they have provided an incredible opportunity to gather up tackle, gear, food, and fuel and a minutes notice. The landing is the only place we will put our boat because of the great service and good customer service.  We always have our boat at the landing when we are in San Diego, because of the proximity of the ocean and fuel.

SHELTER ISLAND BOATYARD
I have become accustomed to working with Shelter Island Boatyard since my parents took their boat there when I was a kid.  I remember how efficient they were getting my parents boat painted and into the water. Angel & The Badman II has been there regularly for all of its bottom work, and we more than happy to do the major modifications to the boat at Shelter Island Boatyard.  It has one of the best reputations for fiberglass and bottom jobs in all of Southern California.

SCOPINICH
Scopinich fighting and helm chairs have been part of the boat since we first sea trialed the boat, and we are glad to have them on board.  There's nothing like fighting a 680lb blue marlin while firmly planted in a Scopinich fighting chair... not to mention the look and feel of their quality helm chairs up top at the controls. We liked them so much we added a third helm chair. They are so well built and they look like they are custom. They make any flybridge look so professional and finished.

DOMETIC ICE MACHINES
Every part of being cool or really cold involves Dometic. We live and die by how much bait we can keep cool and brined up for fishing and without our Eskimo Ice machine we would die in our tournaments. We use so much ice to keep our bait at a perfect state, and without our ice machine we would not be able to keep the bait.

FURUNO
Furuno is the leader for fishing electronics and everyone attempts to measure up to their systems.  I have been asked many times which electronics would I choose… My answer has been the same since my first job on a boat… just go and look at the commercial fishing basin and tell me what electronics the guys use that have to catch fish and get back home to their families? There is no doubt Furuno is the best.

CATERPILLAR
We were lucky to have 3 Cavileer boats to look at and the used one had Caterpillar engines for mains.  We could have had a brand new 48 foot Cavileer for close to the same price, but we chose the Caterpillar boat.  Cat has more service and parts on the planet than all engine builders combined.  I choose cat because of a friend that is in the drilling business and he uses Cat C-18 engines for his workhorses. All of the competitors have had him try their motors, and all of them ended up in his scrap pile. None of the other engines could handle his loads for his crew, but Caterpillars keep on running. Enough said!!!

BALLAST POINT BREWERY & SPIRITS
Ballast Point is a small, local San Diego brewery that was started in the backyard of President and founder, Jack White. Jack and master brewer Yuseff Cherney. Nowadays, Ballast Point produces an amazing array of fine brews including; Sculpin India Pale Ale (IPA), Black Marlin Porter, Calico Amber Ale, Yellowtail Pale Ale and Wahoo Wheat, a Belgian style white beer. The beer just plain fits our style and we would not travel far without Ballast Point beer on board.

But we're not the only ones who like their products. Ballas Point has won numerous awards for their brews with perhaps the most significant coming at the 2010 World Beer Cup. The Brewer's Association puts on the event and Ballast Point walked away with 3 Gold Medals and the coveted "Small Brewery of the Year" award.

With their success in brewing world-class beers, Jack and the gang at Ballast Point broadened their horizons and started the first distillery in San Diego since the days of the prohibition. Three Sheets rum, Devil's Share whiskey and Old Grove gin are the result with more to come. There's a couple of bottles aboard the Badman awaiting celebratory toasts... we'll just need to keep an eye on 'em in case of pirates. Y
o ho, yo ho and a bottle of rum!

ROCK SAKE
We really enjoy Rock Sake aboard the Badman.... especially when we're pairing it with some sashimi made from our fresh catch! But, there's a lot of really bad sake out there and the last thing we want is to spoil our sushi session with some rank sake. We found Rock Sake a while ago and after tasting it, we knew we liked what we were drinking. Rock Sake is made to exacting standards in order to maintain the distinction of being a "Junmai Ginjo" quality sake. Junmai Ginjo is considered to be ultra-premium quality that requires the use of no added alcohol, ever. Add in that they "polish" their locally grown rice to remove the chaff and refine the flavor and you've got a winner in our books. Try some for yourself and we think you'll agree.
